CVV response codes

The table below explains the card verification value (CVV) response codes that you might receive when you are carrying out a CVV check or verifying a card.
| CVV code | Description |
|---|---|
X | No CVV2 information is available |
U | The issuer has not certified or has not provided the encryption keys to the interchange |
P | Card verification not performed, CVD was not on the card. Not all cards have a CVD value encoded |
Y | Card verification performed, and CVD was valid |
D | Card verification performed, and CVD was invalid |
N | Authorizing entity has not attempted card verification or could not verify the CVD due to a security device error |
